Google’s Guard Comes Down – Open Season for Reviews!

Google Places | 4 Jan 2013

Time to turn up the heat folks, Google+ Local reviews are sticking once again!

You may have noticed a few months back that Google tightened up, allowing much fewer reviews thought its filter. In fact, we were experiencing stick rates as low as 60% on some occasions, and that’s with all the bells and whistles to trick their filter. Our clients’ patrons were having even less luck, with stick rates in the neighbourhood of 40%.

Imagine how frustrating that must be as a consumer not to be able to leave your good or bad feedback – especially after putting time and thought into your review. More so, for those businesses that work their tail off to make sure they provoke stellar reviews.

Well folks, the gates are down on this once ‘Yelp-esk’ filter, for what reason I have no clue. As of about 1-2 weeks ago we are seeing stick rates as high as 90-100%. This could not have been better timed as we were days from abandoning our efforts of having clients solicit reviews for Google+ Local.

I suggest you take advantage of it while Google has its guard down and collect as many reviews from your clients as possible. You may not get another opportunity like this.

Let me know if anyone else has noticed this.
